I read a translation of FF7: Ultimania Omega that said the scar Tifa got from the Nibelheim Incident was, in fact, on her back. I was like, "DURR HOH-KAY", even though I was under the impression that the scar would've been on her, um, front.
(Well, the translation also said that Cloud gave her the scar, but I seem to remember that it was Sephiroth that gave her a nice thwack with the Masamune. I dunno; maybe I'm just crazy ).
Regardless of what's true or not, I liked the idea of it being on her back, so I decided to make this picture.
Now, this picture isn't about HAWT SEX, or anything; I was thinking that for Cloud, scars could mean a lot of things.
For example, the scar Tifa has (wherever it is) would be a reminder of his failure to protect her when she needed it most. This fear of failing to protecting those he cares about has everything to do with his fear of being weak, inadequate, and worthless; this resurfaces many times, especially with Aeris and Zack (so what I'm trying to say is that Tifa's scar could represent a larger picture that includes other things for which Cloud feels responsible/guilty/ineffective).
But, at the same time, the scar he (should) have from Sephiroth (remember when he got shish-ka-bobbed?) is a testament to the fact that he is not a weak-minded, incompetant nothing. He was able to stand up to Sephiroth--we're talking Cloud, the Shinra grunt who couldn't even make it into soldier--he was able to freaking force his way back onto the ground after being impaled on the Masamune and throw him into the depths of the Reactor (clearly, I'm not talking about the events as they happened in Last Order). Cloud was strong not because he became Zack, or because he had Jenova cells injected into him; he was strong because he was who he was. He was not a failure.
So. Scars could have a dual nature when talking about Cloud.
I was about to say "OH NOES SEIMEI YOU BURNED MY EYES OUT!" But then I read the summary and it was all good. Sort of. >_> I'm still glad I'm in my room and nobody can look over my shoulder to make snide comments about my moral quality.
What really makes the picture is definitely your comment beneath. It was very mature, well-planned, and well written.
Not to mention your flesh tones really bring your characters to life. They look Touchable.
And cool.
And I'm very glad to know you're using Open Canvas. >D
